Short Courses FAQs

Currently, the only credit-bearing short course on offer at LAMDA is our 8-Week Shakespeare Summer School (worth 8 credits for US students and 2 modules at HE Level 4, totalling 30 credits for UK students).

Upon completion of all other courses, you will be presented with an informal certificate of completion by LAMDA.

To be eligible to take part in a LAMDA short course, you must have a level of English equivalent to approximately ILETS 6.0 and you must meet the minimum age for participation in the course (this varies course to course – please see the Entry Requirements section on the individual course webpage to check). 

For our professional-level courses, we ask that participants have received prior actor training or have equivalent professional acting credits. If you’re unsure, please don’t hesitate to contact our short courses team on [email protected]

4 and 8-Week Shakespeare Summer Schools: 

We believe that students will get the most out of these courses if they have some prior theatre/acting experience. As the 8-Week course is credit-bearing, it may be of particular interest to students who are currently studying, who wish to boost their credits and augment their study. However, this is not a pre-requisite – you do not have to currently be a student to participate in and benefit from this course.

We encourage students to contact us as early as possible so that we can work together to ensure a positive and supportive learning experience.

We understand that reading aloud can be stressful, and that students with dyslexia or other SpLD needs may benefit from advance access to materials.

Where possible, we will send scripts and class materials in advance. However, this cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of short course planning.

Our tutors are experienced in creating encouraging environments, but if there is something you are particularly concerned about, we recommend contacting our Short Courses Team or Disability Coordinator before your course begins if you would like to discuss this further.

Yes. Our course tutors are happy to make reasonable adjustments to exercises where possible.

So that we can best support your learning and maximise your experience of the course, we strongly encourage any student who has questions regarding their ability to take part in any part of the course due to physical needs or other learning differences to contact our Short Courses Team or Disability Coordinator before your course begins. This will allow us to have a better understanding of your needs and discuss support and adjustments. 

Please note that the level of physical requirements varies from course to course.

Yes, subject to our Short Courses Terms & Conditions (available on each course page), and provided you meet the entry requirements outlined on the course webpage. 

We reserve the right to verify any qualifications you have highlighted in your application form.

We don’t provide courses in recorded or notated formats. Students attending a LAMDA short course in person or online are permitted to take their own notes, which may include making an audio recording of the session (at the discretion of the course tutor).
