About the director, Jess Haygarth

Jess is a director and theatre maker specialising in devised theatre making. She is passionate about telling stories which highlight the voices of marginalised individuals, specifically queer people, working class people and women. In her work she creates interactive environments where audiences are encouraged to question their beliefs and opinions.

Before coming to LAMDA she created several online and in person shows with Shrinking Violet Theatre Collective and performance art pieces for theatres such as the Tron. She usually works collaboratively with a company to create work but also has experience working as a dramaturg, writer and assistant director.

About the MA Directing programme

During the one-year postgraduate MA Directing programme, directors build their practice through an intense programme of practical classwork, reflective tutorials and attachments as assistant directors on LAMDA productions, supporting the work of professional directors. Training culminates with each student directing and realising a play of their choice in one of our performance spaces.
