Elly is a freelance director, trained on the MFA in Theatre Directing at Birkbeck College, University of London. Elly spent the last 10 years based in Chicago, where her recent credits include: Run The Beast Down by Titas Halder, The Effect by Lucy Prebble (Strawdog Theatre) and Yen by Anna Jordan (Raven Theatre). Other Chicago productions include: In the Canyon, You for Me for You, Pillars of the Community, The Night Season, The Woman in Black, The Distance, No More Sad Things, After Miss Julie, The Woman Before, Rabbit and The Tomkat Project. UK credits include: My Balloon Beats Your Astronaut (Tristan Bates Theatre), About Tommy (Southwark Playhouse), Copenhagen (Tabard Theatre), Skylight (Stephen Joseph Theatre), The Beach (Theatre 503). Elly was staff director at the Royal National Theatre for a year, working on Oedipus, Her Naked Skin (Olivier Theatre) and Mrs Affleck (Cottesloe Theatre). She has also worked for the Royal & Derngate, Young Vic, Nottingham Playhouse, Almeida Theatre, Arcola Theatre & Gate Theatre. Elly has been a script reader for many years for theatres including Steppenwolf Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre.
