About the course

Explore the fundamentals of screen acting with this two-week intensive course, designed for anyone new to screen acting.

Working with an expert LAMDA screen tutor, you'll  explore how to develop a character for screen, and how to act with confidence on camera. You'll also have the opportunity to watch back your work, and to explore the technical elements of screen acting, such as continuity and mark-hitting.

You'll leave the course with a thorough foundational understanding of the fundamentals of screen acting technique.

What will I learn?

  1. Explore the process of 'solo prep' for screen.
  2. Discover how to develop a character for screen.
  3. Explore 'set skills' and the technical elements of screen acting.
  4. Develop on-screen confidence with multiple opportunities to work in front of the camera and review footage.

Is this course for me?

This course is suitable for you whatever your experience of acting or performing. Our expert tutor will adapt to the specific requirements and experience of the cohort, and you can expect to be challenged and supported, whatever your prior experience.

You'll get the most out of this course if you're new to acting for screen.

We encourage participants of all ages to book onto this course, and we will endeavour to place participants in pairs and groups where they're working with others of a similar age.

This is a mixed level course, meaning participants will have a range of experiences.

Please note that from time to time we may need to change the advertised tutor due to availability. In these instances, we will always replace the tutor with an alternative LAMDA tutor or associate.

This course is for participants aged 18+.

In order to train on this course, you should have a level of English that is approximately IELTS 6.0 or equivalent English Language experience.

You can test your level using the Cambridge English Language Assessment or the CEFR’s Self-Assessment Table. B2 Proficiency is roughly equivalent to IELTS 6.0.

If you meet the eligibility criteria and if spaces remain available, you will be offered a place on the course. If you're not eligible for this course, you'll be contacted by our Admissions Team and will be offered a place on another relevant course or refunded the course fee.
