Auditioning: Monologue Bootcamp

About the course

Prepare to excel in your drama school auditions with this summer course, designed for anyone applying for degree-level/drama school acting programmes.

Working with expert LAMDA tutors, you'll work intensively on both classical and contemporary monologues throughout the week, culminating in a mock audition.

You'll also have the opportunity to explore self-tape technique for filming monologues, as well as general audition technique to help you find contrast in your monologues, handle redirection, and handle nerves with confidence. 

Whilst participants are asked to come to the course with a selection of monologues to work on, there will also be ample opportunity to explore what makes a good monologue: how to select and edit a text, and how to choose pieces which show what you can do.

What will I learn?

1. Understand how to select and prepare both classical and contemporary monologues for drama school auditions.
2. Learn how to self tape with confidence.
3. Explore audition techniques and how to take redirection. 

Is this course for me?

This course is suitable for those for anyone preparing audition pieces for drama school auditions, as well as those who would like to work on general audition pieces (not specifically for drama school).

Participants should have some amateur/youth theatre level acting or performance experience to get the most out of this course, and should be confident in the basics of selecting monologues.

We encourage applications from prospective students of all ages to this course, and we will endeavour to place students in pairs and groups where they're working with others of a similar age.

Our expert tutor will adapt to the specific requirements and experience of the cohort, and you can expect to be challenged and supported to ensure that you get the most out of the course.

This is a mixed level course, meaning participants will have a range of experiences.
